In an era where data drives critical decisions, ensuring its accuracy and trustworthiness is paramount. Enter Qualytics, an Engage VC portfolio company, which is partnering with Wellstar Health System to revolutionize data quality and governance.
Catalyst by Wellstar is the premiere company of Engage’s healthcare vertical. Our participation with Engage has already led to several partnerships, pilot projects and investments.
Engage brings high-growth startups together with Atlanta’s leading corporate partners to accelerate innovation. As a result of this ecosystem, Qualytics was introduced to Wellstar, leading to a proof-of-concept (PoC) initiative with Wellstar’s data office during the summer of 2024.
The success of this PoC resulted in a full-scale contract and subsequent deployment of Qualytics’ cutting-edge data quality platform into Wellstar’s operations. The goal? To improve trust in data, reduce inefficiencies, and set a new benchmark for healthcare data governance.
Making Data Reliable
As Gorkem Sevinc, CEO of Qualytics, explains, data is inherently “dirty”—prone to errors, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies.
“Data can’t be default trusted because there are many things that can lead to the data being anomalous,” Sevinc said. “Just as a simple example, let’s say you have a patient intake coordinator who is manually entering data… and accidentally mistypes the year of birth from 1757 instead of 1957—that’s not possible, and not every system will check data at the point of entry.”
These types of inaccuracies can have real-world consequences, especially in healthcare, where electronic health records (EHRs) and clinical data drive crucial decisions. Recognizing this challenge, Wellstar’s Chief Data Officer, Brent Matthewson, and his team have been working closely with Qualytics to deploy its data quality and governance platform to help elevate Wellstar’s data quality at the enterprise scale.
“The deployment of the Qualytics Data Quality Platform enables Wellstar to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability by significantly improving decision-making processes,” Brent said. “This tool addresses common data quality issues in real-time, covering a wide range of datasets across various departments. Partnering with Qualytics is a big step forward as we progress on our journey to the Modern Data Enterprise!”
How Qualytics is Transforming Wellstar’s Data Governance
While the adoption of Qualytics’ platform at Wellstar is in its early days with EHR and HR data, potential benefits are already obvious to our team:
“In just the proof-of-concept phase, we saw many operational efficiencies that we brought to the table,” Sevinc said.
This partnership not only strengthens Wellstar’s ability to deliver high-quality patient care but also positions Qualytics as a key player in healthcare data governance.
“Our early results already showcase significant improvements. We’re excited to grow our partnership with Wellstar and potentially make real-world impact with clinical workflows at scale.” Sevinc said.
Catalyst by Wellstar continues to play a pivotal role in bringing transformative startups like Qualytics into the healthcare space, conducting pilots at one of the largest health systems in the southeast. By leveraging strategic partnerships, Catalyst ensures that Wellstar and its patients benefit from cutting-edge technologies that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and trust.
As this collaboration evolves, it has the potential to set new standards for data governance—not just within Wellstar, but across the entire healthcare industry.
